VCOM Leads Development of National Standard for Electronic Circuit Designers
Release time:2025-09-02

August 1, 2025, in Guangzhou, China, Guangdong VCOM Education Technology Co., Ltd. has taken the lead in launching the development of China’s first National Occupational Standard for Electronic Circuit Designer, a profession newly recognized by the China Government in July 2025. The standard will serve as a critical step in shaping talent cultivation, skills evaluation, and international cooperation in this rapidly growing field. This launching gathered over 100 representatives from government agencies, industry associations, academia, and leading enterprises nationwide.

Electronic Circuit Design is the backbone of the modern information industry, underpinning technologies from consumer electronics to high-end manufacturing and next-generation communications. Globally, demand for circuit design professionals is surging as industries accelerate digitalization, intelligent systems, and semiconductor innovation. However, talent shortages remain a challenge worldwide, making the establishment of clear professional standards increasingly urgent.

Speaking at the launch, Ms. Cathy Wang, CEO of VCOM Education, emphasized that VCOM will leverage its strengths in education-industry collaboration and global skills cooperation to ensure the standard not only supports China’s needs but also contributes to the international training ecosystem. “Our vision is to bring China’s Electronic Circuit Designer standard to the world stage, empowering global talent development, advancing Belt and Road cooperation, and preparing a new generation of circuit design professionals for international industries,” she said.

Engineer Ou Jianbo of VCOM Education shared a detailed research report on the current state of electronic circuit design talent. He noted that while the profession is in high demand, gaps persist in practical skills, standardized evaluation, and training resources. This imbalance between industry demand and talent supply is visible not only in China but across global markets.

Zhou Ming, vice chairman of the China Electronics Labor Society and head of the expert group, stressed that a scientific and internationally compatible standard is essential to closing this gap. “Standardization is the bridge that links education with enterprise demand. It ensures that skills are measurable, transferable, and globally recognized. By embedding circuit design expertise into national and international frameworks, we lay the foundation for the future growth of the electronic information industry worldwide,” Zhou remarked.

The new standard is expected to provide authoritative guidance for training programs, certification systems, and career development pathways, while also aligning with international best practices. For China, it addresses a pressing need to modernize the skills ecosystem supporting its fast-evolving electronics sector. For the global community, it sets a precedent for emerging occupations in the digital era, demonstrating how countries can collaboratively define and elevate new professions to meet shared industry challenges.

Moving forward, VCOM and our partners will consolidate expert input and public consultation to prepare a draft for wider review. Once finalized, the Electronic Circuit Designer standard will not only strengthen China’s talent pipeline but also serve as a reference point for global skills development, contributing to a more connected, innovative, and future-ready workforce.
